Chance and Chancery - an homage

To mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Jane Austen, I humbly present my tribute to a great writer...                                                                                          Chapter I Nothing on earth would have induced him to remove a single item of clothing in the frigid bedchamber in which, by the light of a meagre candle, he now found himself. Besides, his nightgown lay buried beneath a snowdrift, along with the rest of his possessions, so he had scant options to consider.
